SoTL Summer Faculty Workshop Series

From Classroom to Conference: Turning Your Teaching Insights into a Scholarly Project
Thursdays: 7/9, 7/16, 7/23 | 10:00–11:30 a.m. | Zoom | Click here to register

Have you ever considered sharing your teaching practices? Maybe you have an approach you’d like to share with colleagues at FSU, or you’re interested in presenting at a regional or national teaching conference. Even if you’re not familiar with the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL)—a form of classroom research that can be done by faculty in any discipline—you may already be doing it. When you spot an issue in your teaching, generate a possible solution, and collect student data to see if the solution works, you’re engaging in SoTL informally. We’d like to help you take the next step in going public with your teaching. Join us for an interactive, collaborative workshop series, where participants will engage in designing a project with support from the group.

Week 1 (7/9): We will discuss what SoTL involves and generate SoTL project ideas.
Week 2 (7/16): Participants will make plans for evidence/data collection.
Week 3 (7/23): Participants will complete their project design and plan to share the findings with a wider audience.

Colleagues who have worked with us in the past have gone on to present at the Provost’s Showcase of Scholarly Teaching and other teaching conferences. We hope you’ll consider turning your insights into lasting contributions to our campus community. Both beginners and returning faculty are very welcome!

Intentional Technology Faculty Workshop Series

Using Ed Tech tools to help our digital-native students learn and thrive
Workshop 1: Padlet
Tuesday 7/14 | 10:00–11:30 a.m. | Zoom | Click here to register

There’s a wealth of technological tools we can use to help our students engage and learn in class and online. In this first installment of our Intentional Tech Faculty Workshop Series, we take a look at Padlet. Padlet has evolved and has new features that facilitate more types of classroom activities for student engagement. We will get some hands-on experience with the different ways we can intentionally use Padlets in our classrooms, from in-class polling to peer reviews to audiovisual media and more. Both beginners and experienced faculty are welcome to come and share ideas!
